Mitch Vazquez Mitchell Vazquez

Mitchell Anthony Vazquez was born in 1968 – the second of two sons in a middle-class family. He grew up in the Seattle area of Washington State and attended public school where he excelled academically and athletically.

In 1986, Mr. Vazquez applied and was accepted to Stanford University in Palo Alto, CA. His family did not have the means to fund his education, so he financed it himself through a scholarship, student loans, and part time work. During the school year, Vazquez worked part time at Smith Barney’s Palo Alto office before classes started. In the evenings, he earned money tutoring calculus – a job he could schedule around his classes.

In 1990, Mitchell Vazquez earned a Bachelor degree in Economics with honors and distinction from Stanford University. With this achievement, he became the first person in his family of any generation to graduate from college.

After Stanford, Vazquez accepted a job offer in the investment banking department of Merrill Lynch in New York City, which eventually led to a successful entrepreneurial career in the financial industry.
Mitchell Vazquez is considered to be one of the pioneers in the online currency trading industry. In 1996, he started Global Capital Investment – a New York based currency trading firm serving both US and international clients. In 2000, the US Commodities and Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) expanded its jurisdiction to include US based currency trading firms. The CFTC then sanctioned some firms that did not meet the new registered requirements. While Mr. Vazquez and Global Capital Investment were among these firms, Vazquez was ultimately Principal Approved by the CFTC in 2009.
Mr. Vazquez is active in philanthropy, including substantial gifts to the Multiple Myloma  Research Foundation, an organization dedicated to finding cures and treatments for certain types of cancer; and to Americares, which provides disaster relief to stricken areas around the world.
Mitchell Vazquez is grateful for the many positive influences on his life including those of his grandfather and namesake, Mitchell Reedy, who fought in the US Army 12th Mountain division in World War II; and his father, John Vazquez who fought in the US Army infantry in the Korean War.

Mitch Vazquez does not take these influences for granted. He uses his financial success to support both his 69 year old mother, Cindy Vazquez, and his 92 year old grandmother, Phyllis Reedy – both of whom he moved from Ohio to Southern Connecticut in 2008.

Mr. Vazquez currently lives in New Canaan, Connecticut. He is the proud father of three sons, and has a Chocolate Labrador Retriever named Valentine.
